Technical data
While working on a wider mosaic of the Small Magellanic Cloud with the Seestar S30 Pro, I wanted to take a closer look at this particular region using a higher-resolution Telescope Network setup from Australia. The field includes several interesting objects: - NGC 346, the brightest and most active star-forming region in the SMC, associated with the large H II region N66 and containing thousands of young and pre-main-sequence stars. - NGC 371, a young open cluster surrounded by an extended H II region, another active site of recent star formation. - IC 1624, a compact stellar cluster located within a complex environment of ionized gas and expanding shells in the northeastern SMC. - Lindsay 84, a compact nebula/cluster system belonging to the rich stellar population of this part of the SMC. This region is particularly interesting because it shows the effects of different generations of massive stars: stellar winds, ionizing radiation and past supernova explosions have shaped the surrounding gas and contributed to subsequent episodes of star formation.
