Technical data
NGC 7023 is a reflection nebula in the constellation Cepheus, approximately 1,300 light-years from Earth. The name Iris comes from the appearance of its core: the blue light scattered by the central star HD 200775 resembles the shades and structure of an eye's iris. Unlike emission nebulae, here reflected light from dust dominates, creating the characteristic blue color, surrounded by extensive dark clouds rich in interstellar material. Processing was not easy at all: the few hours of integration made signal extraction complex, especially in the faint dust structures.
