Technical data
This image represents much more than my new setup’s first light. For me, it marks a new beginning and a whole new level, both in terms of equipment and, above all, sky quality. Earlier this year, I contacted the team at AstroPeak with the idea of building a complete professional remote setup. They introduced me to Simon Tang from Woodland Hills, who took care of every detail of the system configuration and equipment selection. The result? AstroPeak simply sent me the ASIAIR login credentials. I powered up the system and started imaging. Nothing else. Thinking back to when I was doing astrophotography ten years ago, something like this would have been simply unimaginable. For the first light, I chose a single-panel image of the North America Nebula (NGC 7000) and the Pelican Nebula (IC 5070), acquired entirely during the Full Moon. I was amazed by the amount of detail captured. The full-frame sensor allows you to literally explore the image and keep discovering new structures wherever you look. The processing can certainly be improved… there’s still a long road ahead, but I truly feel this is just the beginning.
