Technical data
This two-panel mosaic captures NGC 6357 (the Lobster Nebula) and NGC 6334 (the Cat's Paw Nebula), two of the richest star-forming complexes in the constellation Scorpius, located along the Carina-Sagittarius spiral arm of the Milky Way. Both nebulae are dominated by intense Hα emission, powered by young massive stars still embedded within their natal molecular clouds. To better reveal the faint dust structures of the Milky Way, I combined UV/IR data with LP data, the latter used to enhance not only the two main nebulae but also the widespread Hα emission extending across the entire field.
