Technical data
NGC 6604 is a young open cluster located in the constellation Serpens Cauda, embedded within the large emission nebula Sh2-54, one of the richest H II regions in the Milky Way. Just to the south lie two of the sky's most famous nebulae, M 16 (Eagle Nebula) and M 17 (Omega Nebula), all belonging to the same giant molecular cloud complex. Also visible are LBN 71 and LBN 72, two bright emission nebulae from the Lynds Bright Nebula catalog. They are part of the Sh2-54 complex and contribute to the extensive ionized hydrogen structures spread across this fascinating region. This is my second close-up of this remarkable region of the Milky Way, following M 17, also captured with the Seestar S50. Next will be M 16, before finally creating a wide-field mosaic from Telescope Network in Mexico, where all of these magnificent objects will be framed together in a single image.
