Technical data
A deliberately off-center mosaic of one of the richest regions of the Milky Way, toward Sagittarius. The field brings together three well-known star-forming regions: M8 - the Lagoon Nebula, M20 - the Trifid Nebula, and NGC 6559 - the Chinese Dragon Nebula, surrounded by a complex network of ionized gas and dark molecular clouds. There is also an interesting curiosity hidden in this field. The extremely faint supernova remnant SNR G007.5-01.7 lies in this same region, although it is not visible in my image. Its very faint filaments require much deeper and more specific data to be revealed. I find this particularly fascinating: the same object, or the same field, can be photographed countless times and still hide something unexpected waiting to be discovered.
