Technical data
Captured from the remote observatory of Kagga Kamma Remote Observatory South Africa, Western Cape AstroCapetown under one of the darkest skies available (Bortle 1), this image features Messier 8 at the center and Messier 20 (NGC 6514) below. Processing was performed by extracting the Hα signal from the LP channel, then reintegrating it into the UV/IR cut channel to enhance regions rich in ionized hydrogen. The result is a wide-field view of a section of the Milky Way, where the background nebulosity becomes clearly visible.
