I wanted to experiment with an LRGB + Hα/OIII composition on M8, despite the relatively limited integration time. Given the emission characteristics of the Lagoon Nebula, I was curious to see how far I could push this combination while maintaining a natural balance between broadband and narrowband data. The image is certainly not as deep as I would have liked, but I’m quite satisfied with the overall color balance and the way the different emission components blend together. Reaching this result wasn’t straightforward - I think I reprocessed the dataset at least twenty times before finding a balance that convinced me.
