With this post, I'm also launching my new website, where I'll be sharing my astrophotography projects, acquisition setups, and processing workflows. After imaging M101 with the Seestar S50 (https://niki-giannandrea-astro.com/en/galleria/m101s50v2-pinwheel-galaxy/), I wanted to image it again using a completely different setup. This time, the data were acquired remotely from Pie Town, New Mexico, with what is undoubtedly one of the best configurations I've ever had the opportunity to use. This image is an HaLRGB composition, created to emphasize the galaxy's H II star-forming regions while preserving its natural appearance. The larger aperture and longer focal length made it possible to resolve a remarkable amount of detail across the spiral arms, revealing countless knots of star formation. Note: In my previous Seestar S50 image of M101 I also used the LP filter to enhance the Hα emission and better highlight the galaxy's star-forming regions. Comparing these two datasets is a great example of how different optical systems can reveal the same astrophysical structures in complementary ways.
