Technical data
A first close-up of IC 1396A, the famous Elephant Trunk Nebula, a dense concentration of gas and dust within the large H II region IC 1396 in the constellation Cepheus. Radiation from the surrounding massive stars is shaping and compressing the cloud, where protostars and young stellar objects have been identified. Once again, I'm impressed by the level of detail and resolution achieved with this setup.
